Obamacare Ruling May Accelerate E-health Spending

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the primary provision of the Affordable Care Act or “Obamacare” will accelerate the industry's massive investment in information technology.

It’s estimated that 20 to 30 million individuals will be purchasing health insurance before the 2014 deadline. In addition, state exchanges will need to be built. All of those exchanges will require systems, hardware and software. This means there will need to be a lot of IT spending in advance to complete the rollout of Obamacare.

There has already been a surge in e-health spending due to the American Relief and Recovery Act of 2009 (ARRA), which allotted $30 billion to health IT investment. That stimulus was aimed at everything from electronic health records to telemedicine to security tools. The Supreme Court may have just given the green light to another wave of health IT spending.

The health insurance mandate means more people will be accessing medical services, so a flexible yet reliable EHR program can help offset the increased workflow this news will bring. That’s where Perfect Care EHR comes in. Call us today to beat the rush, we can help your office meet all federal standards and keep your practice operating smoothly.
